Communications Committee

Advises LAHP on member communications. Provides direction for LAHP’s relationship with the public through the media. Educates major media on health benefits topics through visits with editorial boards and interviews. Oversees website development. Provides support for activities of other committees.

Credentialing Workgroup

Diane Hubert, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Chair
(Open to Health Benefits Members) 
Provides guidance to LAHP on matters related to healthcare provider credentialing. Coordinates amendments to the Louisiana Standarized Credentialing Application form, including communications with provider representatives and the Louisiana Department of Insurance.

Education Committee

Doug Layman, Gilsbar

Works closely with LAHP staff to develop, plan and deliver high-quality educational events and programs.

Health Care Redesign Workgroup

Taira Green-Kelley, Aetna, Chair
(Open to Health Benefits members)
Guides the health benefits industry on matters of Louisiana health care reform. Provides input to state agencies through LAHP’s representative(s) on the design of specific healthcare reform programs.

Health Care Reform Implementation Workgroup

(Open to Health Benefits members)
Guides the health benefits industry on implementation of federal health care reform.  Coordinates understanding of implementation and works with the Department of Insurance on regulatory provisions.  

Legislative Affairs Committee

Michele Calandro, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Chair
(Open to Health Benefits members)
Studies and recommends positions on proposed legislation. Provides input on regulatory issues. Assists in education of state legislators on health benefits. Called at times to testify at legislative hearings or to assist with lobbying in support of LAHP positions.  

Medical Director Forum

Laura Trunk, MD, Humana, Chair
(Open to Medical Directors of Health Benefits members)
Provides health benefits medical directors opportunities to discuss issues of common interest. Promotes initiatives to improve public health.  

Membership Committee

Milam Ford, RPh, MBA, MPH, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Chair
(Open to all members)
Recruits LAHP members and promotes membership renewal. Makes recommendations on criteria for membership and dues structure. Oversees Partners programs.  

Regulatory Affairs Committee

Brooke Flaherty Tiner, Aetna, Chair
(Open to Health Benefits members)
Acts as sounding board for the Louisiana Department of Insurance on regulatory and marketplace issues affecting health benefits. Coordinates activities of health benefits industry workgroups on specific regulatory issues.
